Out of area buyers from particular pockets of Sydney are increasingly interested in living on the Northern Beaches so it would appear. During the course of 2020, the level of interest has gained momentum from eager buyers in near-by neighbourhoods including Cremorne, Neutral Bay and Mosman. Interest is just as strong from Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
The downsizer market continues to put the Northern Beaches on their shopping list for property because of the laid-back pace and lifestyle factors on offer. Appealing amenities including a range of local golf courses, clubs, boutique shops and beautiful beaches mean that living closer to the coast can open up a broader range of relaxing and social pass times.
Families are finding better value and bigger blocks to be the draw cards to the area, needing to upsize into a home that can accommodate the growing brood of children and pets in-toe. Recently we have handled a number of transactions of this nature where the perfect property has been snapped up by an out of area buyer realising the enormous potential of properties on bigger blocks at a justified price point.
But one of the biggest reasons for the spike in Northern Beaches appeal has been the covid-19 lead changes to people’s working habits. With a major increase in people working from home and spending more time in their neighbourhoods, many of the buyers we have spoken with are seeking a more idyllic and less congested place to live.
Proximity to the city is no longer the key factor determining a buyer’s motivations, making it easier for them to trade up their city views, strata levies and train station for a morning surf, visit to the local markets and perfect Manly ferry ride to the city.
